The DELF and the DALF are French Ministry of Education diplomas that certify a level of the Common European Framework: DELF for A1 to B2, DALF for C1 and C2. The DCL works the other way round — you sit one exam built around a workplace situation, and the diploma states the level you reached. All three are held for life. Each exam, and how it compares with the TCF, TEF and TEFAQ, is covered on our French exams explained page.
The DCL. It is a certifying exam listed on the Répertoire spécifique, which makes it eligible for the compte personnel de formation. It is the certification our CPF-funded learners sit.
For the DELF and the DALF, yes: we are an official exam centre — you sit the exam with us, in Bezons, and you book your seat on GoDELF. We run the DELF Tout Public. For the DCL we are an accredited preparation centre rather than an exam centre: you sit the exam at an official centre and we prepare you for it. Our DCL accreditation covers French and English.
For the DELF and the DALF, you register on GoDELF, our exam registration site — pick your level and your date there. If you are on a CPF-funded course with us, your DCL registration is arranged for you from your learner area: you fill in your form there and we handle the registration.
DELF and DALF dates are set by France Éducation International, which publishes a yearly calendar — the one shown above on this page; the next sessions open for registration are on GoDELF. The DCL has three sessions a year, in March, June and December; the exact dates are set by the French Ministry of Education and appear in the Bulletin officiel a few months ahead. They are added here as soon as they are published.
It depends on the exam. For the DELF and the DALF we take bookings for as long as seats remain — up to the evening before, if the session is not full: check the remaining seats on GoDELF. For the DCL the deadline usually falls two months before the exam: the exact opening and closing dates are in the table above, and once it has passed, the next session is the one to aim for.
Our French courses are organised by level, in small groups, in the evening, at weekends or online, and finish on preparation for the exam you are sitting. If you are not sure where you stand, our level test is free. And to revise just before the exam, we run a one-day DELF preparation — one day per level, currently A2, B1 and B2.
